The first stone…


In 1983 Regione Puglia promoted the building (using EU funds) of a “integrated development center for tourism”,

the huge structure was designed by architect Paolo Portoghesi. Here you can see the buildings in a Google Map. Not only the center has never opened, but has since been abandoned to thieves and is now in ruins  (everything was payed with public money); here’s the swimming pool:

One of the most remarkable aspect of this “ordinary” story of public funds waisting is that the buildings are in a protected area. And that the protection of the area was was to be enforced by Regione Puglia. yes, the same that built the “monster”.
